Just for Love....25th Feb '24

Keeping the creative juices flowing means surrounding yourself - body, mind, & soul - with all the tiny sparks of magic that make your heart sing.
Here’s a list of the things we’re loving right now. Our chef’s kiss! We dig sharing the love as well, so let us know if there are things creating a melody in your soul and we’ll share out into the Sunshine & Pineapples world.
  1. Coffee in a French Press

I don't know what it is, but there is a definite Sunday vibe when one has coffee made in a french press. Long, leisurely, sunny brunch energy.
I know there are a million fancy machines and gadgets for making barista quality coffee at home these days but there is just something so Parisienne in the ritual of the french press. The smell of the coffee, boiling the kettle, steeping the brew and pouring into your most beautiful cups.
We have a few favs but are currently digging Campos Superior
  1. Karaoke Nights
I don't know what happens after 40 but there is a magical alchemy that makes Karaoke with the girls the best night of your life.
Sickly, ridiculous cocktails, power ballads sung with full hearts and terrible voices. Arms around each other in absolute delight. If you haven't done it, organise a chicks night with your besties right this minute.
I have no idea how a large, foamy (likely germ filled) karaoke mike turns an introvert into Celine Dion but yes, yes...it does, Every time. And I don't know if it's the singing, the song choices or the absolute hot banger moves spilling all about that gives the biggest insight into the people you thought you knew the best but it's a definite eye opener.
Pole dancing...around square posts...I'll say no more.
  1. Doterra Essential Oils
Like everyone, probably more than most, my energy can get....scattered. I find it hard to concentrate on one task and flit about like a preschooler at rotating art stations. It's messy and unproductive.
Over time I have found the best way for me to centre and ground myself is with some simply little rituals. I make sure the room is cool and air is circulating, I let in the sun and put some essential oils in my diffuser.
It is also true that not all oils are created equal. Synthetic oils can trigger my health condition and respiratory system in the worst way so I stick to natural and pure essential oils that I can trust.
There are many around but my go to is Doterra. They are accessible here in Australia, always quality, smell delicious and I know they are literal sensory medicine. Bonus is, I also use them around my house to clean with and they work a treat and smell divine.
I get mine from The Green Shop Online. but you can get them from a range of places or become a distributor through Doterra.
It's probably becoming apparent that I am what my family likes to refer to as 'a busy child/adult. We don't wear pathologizing labels well, a purely personal thing.
I need to have my senses occupied at all times or there will be mischief afoot! These days I try to do that proactively rather than through whims, substances and resulting dilemmas of all kinds.
Audiobooks have been an absolute game changer. You see, when you are a 'busy' one. You can actually watch a TV show, read a book, listen to music, write or draw at the same time. In fact, this arrangement suits a busy person well. To me it feels calming.
So often I'll pop on an audiobook when I'm walking, driving long distances, sketching, vacuuming...you name it really. It means my mind is always filled with beautiful things and less...noise. And this, in turn, gives space for beautiful things to emerge.
There are a few audiobook apps around but I choose Audible for the range and it's cheap as chips with a monthly subscription which is more than enough to keep my mind occupied.

5. Sunshine & Pineapples - Art Print Blankets
I love blankets...I seem to collect them like some sort of fetish. It's the Hygge vibe that gets me in. We have them draped over every surface.
Which is why I was so excited to design our very own Sherpa Art Print Blankets. They look gorg and feel even more so. Designed from our own Art Print Collection they are available in Whale Song, Song Line, & Honey Eater. And more to come I'm sure.....
I hope you love them as much as we do.
