Just for Love...April '24

Keeping the creative juices flowing means surrounding yourself - body, mind, & soul - with all the tiny sparks of magic that make your heart sing.
Here’s a list of the things we’re loving right now. Our chef’s kiss! We dig sharing the love as well, so let us know if there are things creating a melody in your soul and we’ll share out into the Sunshine & Pineapples world.

1. Light Feet Socks

Evolution Mini Crew Socks

Here's a personal fact you may (or may not) wish to know. I have exceptional weird feet. They hyperextend, have weird bumps that no one really knows the origin of. I have extra ankles on the outside of each foot, they blister like the princess and the pea....look they're just a bit wild ok.
This means that shoes are enemy number one and don't get me started on socks, my friend. They don't ever stay on or up or literally do anything typical socks should do. Like I legit do my dog walk in my pluggers because they are the least objectionable footwear I own.
That was before I found my newest best love, Light Feet Socks. Oh my goodness. It was lust at first wear. Working from home means I am generally barefoot and sandy but I also have polished concrete floors which can be a bit cold and hard on the legs.
I got myself a pair of evolution Mini Crew Socks, mostly because I was attracted to the VERY pretty colours, but found they are to die for comfortable. They stay up and behave well, comfort tired tootsies and did I mention the colours?? Do yourself a favour and check out this little Aussie company.
Have you heard of the Big Softie yet? I'm not being wicked. It's a thing. And you need one.
Many artists still take there own photos to digitalise their work. And if you are fancy enough to take yours to a professional to upload, I bet you still take the odd cheeky 'in situ', or studio selfies, to promote your brand from time to time.
I'll admit, I do have some professional lights and backdrops at my studio but sometimes...I simply can't be 'bothered' getting everything out and setting up. Especially if I just want to take a quick snap for socials. I'm lazy and I know it.
This is where the Big Softie comes in. It's so small. It's a portable soft-light that makes your photos look lush and professionally lit. It fits phones, tablets, laptops, cameras. I haven't found anything it doesn't fit. There are five brightness settings and three colour settings and it fits in your pocket.
This ingenious little design was a kickstarter project and it's still going strong, well past it's initial launch. We love getting on board a good innovation or two.
Look, I reckon we've all encountered them at one time or another. Toxic managers, toxic partners, toxic family members.
What's super interesting about David Gillespie's book, Toxic at Work is that he actually studies psychopaths and has some really interesting research and facts about the topic.
This book is straight forward, easy to digest and gives some really practical advice about how to spot a psychopath and more importantly, how to detangle yourself safely from this type of person should they cross your path. Which apparently is more often than you might realise!
A really fascinating read. Available at Booktopia or where ever you get your book fix.
