The tiny sparks of magic that make your heart sing. That's what we're talking about. It's the little things that keep your vibration high and your creative juices flowing.
Here’s a list of the things we’re loving right now. Our chef’s kiss! We dig sharing the love as well, so let us know if there are things creating a melody in your soul and we’ll share out into the Sonny world.

School Holidays
I know, weird right? I am one of those crazy cats that loves school holiday time. I love having my kid around, just hanging at home listening to music and watching them interact with their friends and the world.
We used to plan to get away on the holidays but these days we are spending more time really connecting to our home and hearts. It's nice to head to the beach, go our for gelato, or just hang out together in our own space at a slowed down, mellow pace.
We cook, spend time in the garden, have a permanent craft table on the go, make music, and play with all of our animals.
You know what's not hot though? Juggling work with the kid's holiday. It sucks. I don't tend to get much of the Mum guilt because my kid comes first, no contest, but school holidays is the exception to that. Sometimes the adulting wheel needs to keep turning.
We make the most of the time we have and sometimes that means that creative time gets put to one side...just for a moment or two. It's all about compromise. I don't believe there is such a thing as balance in life or parenting.
Cancelled is a podcast made by Mamamia, an Australian Woman's media company. It's hosted by twins, Clare and Jessie Stephens and it's all about the ridiculousness of cancel culture. Listening to these ladies is like a Friday night with my Goddess tribe. They are funny, and equal parts intelligence with the deeply childish banter you expect from siblings.
The pair deep dive into the story of a celebrity’s cancellation and ultimately ask who’s in, who’s out and who cares about the current trends within the zygiest.
It's light and slightly wicked but often lifts my vibration when I'm feeling a bit weighed down by the world.
I tend to get quite caught up in my own world and head. As a result I often live on giant cups of tea, regular coffee infusions and little else. This is definitely not the recipe for a healthy, energetic Goddess and I'm getting too old now to function well on coffee and good times alone.
Now...before you groan I am NOT one of those beachy keen, healthy mung bean types. I wish I was, but truly I'm more of a smell of an oily rag type. A chicco roll on the run girl! Which is probably why energy has always been something I have trouble regulating in the day to day grind.
I have been FORCED by the universe to learn a bit more about my body and my energy due to some tricky little auto-immune issues and guess what? It actually does help. As much as this pains me to say.
Looking at my micronutrients there was a pretty dismal amount of vitamins and minerals entering my body and a lot of running around the place to sustain. It was kind of like expecting my car to drive to the Isa without putting any fuel in her tank to be fair.
That's where my Green Juice comes in. Two serves each of fruit and veg straight up each morning with some healthy fats and a good dose of protein powder thrown in. It tastes better than it looks and my energy really has been lifting.
My own brew has pineapple, banana, cauliflower, peas, spinach and sometimes mango with a little raw honey. Add a flavour neutral quality protein powder and I've hit the majority of my nutrient targets before I even wake up properly. I've added a link to the Gaia recipe as well but there are so many variations you're sure to find something that starts your engine.
I've been a fan of Paloma's for a very long time. I adore her cheeky vibe as much as her cover of INXS, Never Tear Us Apart.
Watching her at Glastonbury, I've fallen in love with Paloma all over again. It's easy to dismiss this amazing woman with her kooky costumes and wispy, often spacey responses in interviews but her voice is powerful, in both sound and intent. Her music is intricate and at the same time accessible, and her feminist message is clear as day. Watch her sing a version of Jimi Hendrix', Purple Haze and you'll get a sense of her magnificence.
As someone who is often under-estimated because I value a laugh over aggression and have a slightly spacey demeanour, I really resonate with Paloma's style.
Paloma's new book: MILF: Motherhood, Identity, Love and F*ckery is also out now. Raw, funny, liberating and well worth a read.

Our New Branding!
What started as our little side hustle is slowly growing and expanding. This is a lovely gift but also means that the name, branding, and structure of the company that I threw out there on whim a year ago was due for a reset. This new structure will allow for more space and flexibility to grow and flow.
Some of you might know that Sunshine is a nickname one of my dearest mates gave to me. My initials are KC and this reminded him of KC and the Sunshine Band which kinda fit. Pineapple was our code word when we needed help escaping from 'undesirable' work, social, or family occasions. Our safety word if you will! It was often used as a bit of a laugh when we would text PINEAPPLE! REPEAT PINEAPPLE! in a prickly situation. I felt connected to the name in so many ways but it was time to evolve.
Our design company is now registered as Sonny Mac Design, allowing for our textile, fabric design and licensed product elements to grow while Sonny the Store is our retail space. This includes our much loved Sass Queen and Sonny the Label clothing, as well as our re-branded Sonny Home decor items.
We hope you love the new space as much as we do. Find us at sonnythestore.com or FB and Instagram.
