What's currently trending in the world of patterns and design?
If you're in the middle of preparing for next season, as I am, there are some exciting repeat pattern designs to make your own. These are the six that we're getting a kick out of currently
1. Playful Geometry
I love a good geo. It feels very retro and sixties to me and I kind love that classic feel. Playful Geo's add another element in the mix with the addition of a freehand feel, cut and paste designs elements, retro colours and styles. It also includes some delicious painted checks which feel a bit disco ball inspired to me. I'm loving the irregular block prints, along with kaleidoscopic mosaics.

Vibrant Blooms
These florals are oversized, think Carrie Bradshaw's brooch in the political era. There's room for bright expressive painterly looks within this genre, alongside more naive floral doodles with a bolder than chintzy feel.
-
Monotone Cut-Outs
Sometimes also referred to as silhouette. These are those lovely simplistic silhouettes with Matisse inspired leaf, bold woodcuts and large scale ink florals.
-
Summer Tiles
As the name suggests, these are gorgeous repeated tile patterns with a Moroccan flavour. These patterns are intricate and ornamental with exotic mandalas and tropical style graphics.
-
Hot House Palms
I especially love a good tropical feel and Hot House Palms has that rich, freehand, rainforest vibe. Tropical foliage and tropical plants in watercolour hit the spot.

Earthbound
Right up our Sonny Mac alley, this trend incorporates all of those earthy marking and contour lines that you often see reflected in nature. Earthbound has the feel of natural textures with a bit of grit and a whole lot of outback goodness.
